Auckland-based Organisation of Hindu Malayalees NZ has appealed to the members of the community and commercial organisations for donations to fund the ‘Ayyappa Vilakku’ programme scheduled to be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the Lord Ganesha Temple located in the South Auckland suburb of Papakura.
Association President Sasi Nambissan said that Hindu Malayalees observe 41 days of piety and penance leading up to the main event and that in-home prayers were held last year due to the Covid-19 lockdown.
“Following that experience, we have developed a hybrid model this year to enable people to participate in Bhajans and Prayers at Temples and homes. These gatherings will offer obeisance to Lord Ayyappa. Since Saturday is the most auspicious day for the Lord, our Organisation is conducting Bhajans on all Saturdays during the Mandalam period,” he said.
Mr Nambissan said that the members of the Executive Committee are working hard and appealed on their behalf for people to register as volunteers for the forthcoming programme.
