The Eleventh Edition of ‘Indi King,’ a popular ‘Bollywood Talent New Zealand Contest’ will test the calibre of participants at the grand finale scheduled to be held on August 11, 2018 at 7 pm (doors open at 6 pm) at Dorothy Winstone Centre, Auckland Girls Grammar School, Newton, Auckland.
The Bollywood Dance Contest, 11th in an annual series, has attracted entrants from all over New Zealand, and their performances will be judged by international artistes.
Yogesh Gounder, Founder-Director of ‘Indi Revolution,’ said that innovation has been the key to the success of the iconic event over the years.
Paper Prop
“This year, we have introduced the ‘Prop Round,’ requiring contestants to use the same prop according to their innovative spirit. ‘Paper’ is the material for the prop this year and the panel of judges will decide on the winners based on the most creative use of the prop,” he said.
A veteran of dance competitions, as organiser and contestant for several years, Yogesh challenges participants to aspire to reach the next higher level.
While the evaluation process will be based on various criteria, the audience will also have the opportunity to vote for the ‘People’s Champion Award.’
World Dance League
And for the first time, those aspiring to take their dancing talent overseas will have an opportunity through the ‘World Dance League,’ a professional organisation that has developed the dancing career of people in many parts of the world.
Taking his passion to promoting local talent abroad, Yogesh has negotiated with the ‘World Dance League,’ to include winners in the New Zealand Indi King contests to participate in the global event.
Vernon Monteiro
Yogesh undertook the challenging task of dealing with the World Dance League, unknown decision makers in a different time-zone, and building relationship through phone and skype.
“I am determined to make this work to finally get New Zealand talent connect with the world,” Yogesh said.
Vernon Monteiro, who also owns ‘V’ Company, winners of ‘Dance Plus,’ a Reality Show telecast in India, has worked hard to elevate World Dance League as a highly successful event.
Vernon is a member of the Indi King judging panel and will select a participant to represent New Zealand at the global contest.
Lauren Gottlieb
Yogesh has also enlisted the support of Lauren Gottlieb, another international artiste as an Indi King judge, a role that she performed at the 2016 Contest.
Lauren has worked closely with Vernon on movies, dance workshops and events.
With more than 2.4 million Instagram followers all over the world, judging international reality dance shows, choreographing music videos, acting in movies (Indian Cinema, ABCD, ABCD2) and conducting her famous dance masterclass workshops, she is considered to be one of authorities in show business.
Her performance at Indi King 2016 attracted more than 64,000 YouTube viewers.
She will be an ace dancer at the forthcoming event.
Lauren will also conduct her Masterclass in Auckland on August 12, 2018.
