Sathiyaselvan
Members of the New Zealand Thirumurugan Temple Society like Nadesan Nanthakumar have been offering their knowledge, expertise and skills for the development of our Temple (located at 145 Church Street, Otahuhu).
Their innovative ways of supporting the construction of the Temple and mobilising financial resources have created strong positive feelings amongst the community to get more involved in the name of Lord Murugan.
Team Work
The ‘Karthik Music Experience’ held in Auckland on October 26, 2014 (Indian Newslink, October 1 & 15, 2014) was another example of great team work delivering outstanding success.
The Society launched its use of the multi-purpose Community Hall with the Deepavali Festival on November 8, 2014. The Festival included music, dance, magic and many other variety items, catering to all interests. This was complemented by delicious South and North Indian cuisine.
Priority Jobs
A number of high priority works for the Temple include (a) Replacement of Roof (b) Insulation and Interior Cladding (c) Suspended Ceiling (d) Floor Covering – Tiles and Carpet (e) Heating & Air Conditioning and (f) Development of Community Hall.
The Society is working hard to generate an estimated amount of $200,000 to complete all the priority works before the onset of the next winter.
We are pleased to announce that our first 15-day ‘Maha Utsavam’ commenced on Sunday, January 25, 2015, with ‘Kodiyettram’ (Flag Hoisting) Festival.
The ‘Ther’ (Chariot) Festival will be held on February 7, 2015.
We are providing opportunities to all devotees to get involved and sponsor Special Poojas by allocating a schedule, based on the devotees’ suburbs of residence, which has proved to be popular.
