Indo-Fijians residing in Auckland, particularly in Waitakere, will have an opportunity to understand and discuss issues relating to family violence at a workshop due to be held next week.
Waitakere Anti-Violence Essential Services is organising the Workshop with the support of the Auckland Council and a number of other organisations at the Henderson Council Chamber on October 9 at 1 pm.
“This event is about building understanding and responsiveness to family violence within the Indo-Fijian communities,” a press note said.
Jenny Jeff (Settling In, Family & Consultancy Services), Manju Verma (Child, Youth & Family) of the Social Development Ministry and Aarti Prasad of Family Action Group will present papers at the Workshop.
The Workshop will discuss a number of issues including (a) the journey from India to Fiji (b) the journey from Fiji to New Zealand (c) settlement in New Zealand (d) case study and (d) questions and answers
