Highly-rated New Zealand rugby coach Chris Boyd is leaving the Hurricanes after this year’s Super Rugby season. The 59-year-old has signed a three-year deal as Director of Rugby at the Northampton Saints and will start his new role in August.
Boyd led the Hurricanes to their first-ever title in 2016 following stints with the Wellington Lions and New Zealand under-20s.
“Northampton Saints is a club I have admired all of my coaching career. The club’s ambitions match my own – I am confident I can help the Saints become one of the biggest and best teams in Europe,” he said in a statement published by the Club’s Website.
He also boasts a 43-11 record since joining the Wellington-based club three seasons ago, as well as two trips to the final.
Hurricanes Chief Executive Avan Lee said Boyd’s successor would be announced in due course.
