Diwali in Pukekohe will focus on children with competitions, fun and entertainment.
It would also be an occasion for families and elders to get together at the Pukekohe Community Centre Hall on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
Residents of Franklin District will have numerous activities to entertain them as the Pukekohe Indian Association has put together events that would sustain their interest, simultaneously exploring and exposing young talent.
Colouring contests
The programme will commence at 9 am with ‘Colouring for fun,’ designed for preschool children, followed by colouring competitions for youngsters categorised into three age groups, namely, five to seven years (9 am to 1030 am), eight to 10 years (9 am to 11 am) and 11 to 15 years (9 am to 12 pm), for whom it would be Rangoli contest. Mediya will be held at 2 pm.

The programme in the evening, commencing at 6 pm, would include a number of dances such as the Garbha, Dandya Rass and Bhangra, followed by dinner.

Franklin Library
Officials and members of the Association will participate in a number of activities depicting India at the Franklin Library.
Diwali festivities at the Library will begin on Saturday November 3 at 11 am featuring Indian dances, Henna and Saree demonstration.
Henna demonstration will be held from 4 pm to 5 pm on November 5, 7, 12 and 14, while Rangoli and Saree demonstration will be held on November 10 at 1030 am, details of which can be obtained from Nima Uka on (09) 238399 or Kaminea Parsot (09) 2386654.
