Pizza delivery may be an ordinary (round-the-clock in some places), matter-of-fact duty but an Indian became the talk of Queenstown recently.
Hardeep Singh was worthy of Superman as he took to bungee jumping to deliver his order to waiting customers in a jet boat.
The 27-year-old store manager performed the stunt organised as a part of the opening of a new Domino Pizza store in line with Queenstown’s reputation of being the Adventure Capital of New Zealand.
Domino New Zealand General Manager Scott Bush said that it was an exciting experience.
Daredevil ethos
“We wanted to kick off the opening of the Queenstown store by doing something that paid homage to the region’s daredevil ethos and that would demonstrate how excited we are to have opened our 600th store in this wonderful region.”
Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Vanessa van Uden said that the opening of Domino’s Pizza outlet in Queenstown was a sign of positive economic growth.
“As well as providing another element of consumer choice for visitors and locals, Domino’s is creating 20 new jobs, which is a welcome addition to the local job market,” she said.
The adventurous delivery took place at the AJ Hackett Kawarau Bridge Bungee on December 10, 2013.
Hardeep said that it was a unique delivery in his four-year tenure at Domino’s.
“I started as a delivery driver in Domino’s Queen Street store in Auckland city, but never expected to be asked to do bungee delivery, which was a real challenge. I was excited by the opportunity to be involved,” he said.
Hardeep moved from Auckland to Queenstown to manage the new store.
