BNZ to down shutters for a day of good work

There would be an extra day in the year (in addition to announced public holidays) when all offices and stores of BNZ would down their shutters, with its management and staff doing more for the community.

“Closed for Good” is the theme under which the Bank would divert energy and staff involvement for an entire day throughout the country on May 8, 2012.

You could of course continue to transact business through online (internet) and telebanking, art from accessing hundreds of thousands of ATMs around the world.

As in the past three years, Raja Venkatesh of the Bank’s office on Quay Street in Central Auckland is among the officers leading the project.

He said the Bank was keen to hear from the public their suggestions to promote community work on the appointed day.

“Any person, including those who are not BNZ clients can suggest a project or community welfare scheme. Suggestions can be submitted online https://www.closedforgood.org

“The more people who hear about Closed for Good, the more we can do when we get out there in the community. Please help us spread the word by sharing this page with friends and family,” he said.

Mr Venkatesh said that in 2009 and 2011, the Bank helped with more than 900 projects within New Zealand. We are taking on that challenge once again, but with a twist.

“More than 4000 BNZ staff would be involved with teams of volunteers from the public,” he said.
