With BNZ’s recent appointment of Ansuya Naidoo in a new role of Head of Indian Community Banking, she is already driving the Indian team’s vision and strategy with exciting plans.
India, alongside China, is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and BNZ is seeing an increasing demand from customers to do business with the booming Asian nation. The growing demographical change in Auckland and New Zealand represents a significant opportunity in this community for the bank.
To support this growing demand, Ms Naidoo organised BNZ’s inaugural Indian Cultural Awareness Workshop on July 23, 2013, which included 35 Indian staff from all over New Zealand to attend this auspicious event.
Defining times
“These are exciting and defining times both for the Bank and Indian people in New Zealand and I am looking forward to continuing the development of strong, mutually beneficial relationships,” Ms Naidoo said.
BNZ Partners Director Anthony Healy welcomed the Bank’s Indian team before Ratna Venkat formally opened the Workshop with a symbolic dance performance of Bharata Natyam Fusion. This traditional classical dance form originated in the South Indian State of Tamil Nadu. Widely known for its grace, purity, tenderness, and sculpturesque poses, Ms Venkat left BNZ’s Indian team captivated as she danced to the beat of the Tabla, played by Avirbhav Verma.
Demographic focus
The workshop focused on the demographics of New Zealand’s Indian community, analysing the ethnic, religious, geographic, and economic backgrounds of the diverse community. Guest speakers complemented the Workshop, which shared their inspiring experiences and journeys of personal discovery, challenges and opportunities.
Following a traditional Indian lunch, Ms Naidoo addressed the Group with her own motivational mantra, “My commitment is to not only represent BNZ in the Indian community, but also to make a meaningful contribution to the community’s future prosperity.”
Business Awards
With BNZ’s commitment to the wider Indian community, and its Mission to enable a high achieving New Zealand, supporting the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards has been a natural fit. BNZ has been the Title Sponsor of the Awards since 2011 as a part of the Bank’s efforts to promote the interests of this important business community and to encourage Indian businesses to have in place sound business plans and strategies.
BNZ looks forward to this year’s awards night programme to be held on Monday, November 18 at Sky City Convention Centre, Auckland.
