A Badminton Open Tournament for men and women will be held on July 23.
The Auckland Indian Badminton Club is organising the event at the Auckland Badminton Association premises, located at 99 Gilles Avenue, Epsom.
The Club’s President and Coach Surya Rao, who is organising the Tournament, said that based on the encouraging response from players last year, the forthcoming event could be a record breaker.
“We had 186 players competing in various grades from all over the country at the 2010 Tournament. We hope to more participants this year,” he said.
Mr Rao said the Tournament will feature Men’s and Women’s Doubles in A, B and C Grades and that a number of commercial organisations and retailers are supporting the event.
“Winners and Runners-Up will receive Carlton Racquets along with Badminton kits valued at $4000. We welcome participants not only from Auckland but also from other parts of the country,” he said.
