The Awards Ceremony of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) held in Auckland recently was a double celebration for CBRE (New Zealand), a leading full-service real estate company.
While the Company received the ‘Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award 2013,’ its Industrial & Logistics Services Agent Rajal (Raj) Chaudhary was honoured with the ‘Young Achiever of the Year 2013’ Award.
Sustainable management
The RICS NZ Commercial Property Awards are given in recognition of the outstanding performance of firms, teams and individuals in the industry. These awards aim to promote the talents and team spirit of property professionals throughout the region.
The ‘Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award’ recognised CBRE’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, the Real Green Research Challenge, its internal Green Day for staff and green building management practices.
It is understood that CBRE’s New Zealand Asset Services team manages more than 1 million square metres of office, retail and industrial assets throughout the country.
Fitting recognition
The Company’s Senior Managing Director Brent McGregor said that the Awards were a fitting recognition of Mr Chaudhary’s achievements.
“Determination to provide clients with a high calibre of professional services and utilisation of technology are among the finest attributes of Mr Chaudhary. The Awards recognise his commitment to deliver the highest level of service to clients and are an acknowledgement of CBRE’s continuing focus on sustainability,” he said.
CBRE South Auckland Managing Director Bruce Catley said that Mr Chaudhary has been a consistent performer.
“He has shouldered many of the responsibilities that come with establishing his business within CBRE. He is career focused and demonstrates a high level of professionalism towards internal and external clients,” he said.
Consistent winner
A graduate (conjoint Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Property with Employment), Mr Chaudhary is a member of RICS and is currently pursuing the APC (Assessment of Professional Competence) Graduate Pathway (Commercial Property Practice) to become fully accredited by RICS.
University of Auckland presented him with the ‘Emerging Talent Award’ in May 2013 for “displaying outstanding characteristics in the profession and making significant contribution to the community in relation to providing support to the Department of Property, its students and graduates.”
He was a Property Case Competition Judge for the University in 2012, and participated at the industry networking evenings (2011-2012), assisting final year students in finding out more about the property market and opportunities.
Mr Chaudhary was a member of the four-member winning team at the International Pacific Rim Real Estate Property Case Competition held in 2010.
Aspiring leader
Mr Chaudhary described the ‘Young Achiever of the Year Award’ as an honour and that he was competing against high calibre nominees.
“I aspire to develop CBRE’s industrial offering in South Auckland and become a market leader. I also hope to increase the quantity and size of my transactions, develop a reputable and professional profile as an agent and reach the level of a Director in the Company. Among my other ambitions are to develop and mentor students in the industry and play an integral role within the University of Auckland,” he said.
