When Aucklander Sindhya Kirpalani attends the Finale of Mrs India Worldwide 2024 in Dubai early in May 2024, she will not only carry the honour of representing New Zealand but also fulfil her long-cherished desire to participate in a global event.

She is grateful to Haut Monde of India for giving her the opportunity and to her husband and son for their unstinted support.

“The support of the officials of Haut Monde and organisers of the Pageant has also been instrumental in enabling her to reach this stage and will undoubtedly play a crucial role in the finale,” she said.

Winning honours is not new for Sindhya. Last year, she was judged the First Runner-Up at the Diler Sindhi Global Pageant (Season Two) held in Auckland. The event aimed to showcase the beauty and culture of the Sindhi community.

About the Sindhi Community

Sindhis are an Indo-Aryan ethnolinguistic group that speaks the Sindhi language and are native to the Sindh province of undivided India (now in Pakistan). The historical homeland of Sindhis is bordered by the Southeastern part of Balochistan, the Bahawalpur region of Punjab and the Kutch region of Gujarat.

It is generally believed that the Sindhis were sidelined by history and politics but it is to their credit that the Sindhi language and culture have been preserved and promoted through centuries and as a part of the Indian Diaspora, they have preserved their cultural identity.

When India was partitioned on August 14, 1947 to create the Muslim nation of Pakistani, hundreds of thousands of Sindhi Hindus and Sindhi Sikhs on the other side of the divide, migrated to the newly independent Dominion of India and other parts of the world.

Some Sindhis moved to the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Sindhis in Pakistan are predominantly Muslim, while that country has a dwindling population of Sikhs and Hindus, resident mostly in Eastern Sindh. Indian Sindhis are mostly Hindu.

Promoting Wellness

Prakash manages Boffo Services Limited, a multifaceted IT company, a partnership venture with Sindhya, while the couple also own other enterprises, notably, SoleHues to promote wellness.

“We started this business with Wedge Juice Bar (at Eliott Stables in Auckland City) with health and wellbeing as the cornerstone of our endeavours. I have enjoyed doing social work, volunteering and various forms of charity, contributing my time, and financial resources and even donating blood on a modest scale. I see this pageant as a golden opportunity to amplify my philanthropic endeavours, allowing me to extend my passion for influencing and giving back to a much broader audience,” Sindhya said.

A Hospital for the Under-Privileged

Sindhya is involved with the Shanti Sajal Research and Charitable Trust, a Gurgaon (Haryana) based Non-Governmental Organisation working to improve the lot of the underprivileged people in various parts of the country. Among the ongoing projects of the NGO is the construction of a hospital in Aruri Village in Bihar.

“This endeavour is a true representation of our collective aspirations to contribute positively and create lasting impacts on the lives of those in need. I see it as an opportunity to embody the essence of giving back to the community and making a real difference,” Sindhya said.

As a Mrs India Worldwide New Zealand Finalist, Sindhya has started a Givealittle Page in aid of the Project. Please click here to contribute.
