Syamala Rajagopal, mother of BNZ official Raja Venkatesh, passed away at a nursing home in West Auckland on November 1 after a brief illness.
She was 78. Her funeral took place the same evening.
She is survived by her two sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.
Mr Venkatesh, who works at BNZ Quay Park in Auckland’s Central Business District, said that his mother enjoyed devotional and Carnatic music.
“She was highly religious and always took an interest in people and extended her warmth and friendliness to everyone she met. She regularly visited the Hare Krishna Temple (Kumeu, Auckland) and listened to discourses on the Bhagavad Gita,” he said.
