When Patton New Zealand Limited Chief Executive Sameer Handa decided to participate in the fundraising drive of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), he knew it was for a good cause.
The Second Prize of an i-Pad for the winner in the GOPIO raffle was a double deal; it cost $5 in ticket money and helped the organisation to raise a part of the funds required to purchase a fully equipped ambulance for St Johns.
GOPIO fell short of its self-assigned target of $12,000 but the amount collected ($7000) was certainly handsome.
As Mr Handa handed over the i-Pad to Shailen Mehta (who collected the piece on behalf of the winner Ravi Mehta) at his office two days after the draw was held (at Sangeet Restaurant), he felt gratified.
Among the others who were successful at the draw held on June 12 were Cheryl Jacobusen (50’’ PanasonicPlasma TV from Global Financial Services Ltd); Arthav Saluja (a ‘Mystery Weekend’ for two persons from Travel Design Ltd and GOPIO); Phil Evans (One Weekend stay with breakfast at Stamford Plaza Auckland donated by the Hotel) and Avneel Rohit (Dinner for four persons valued at $200 at Sangeet Restaurant, donated by its owner Davinder Rahal)
