Achievers mark Diwali with pride

Jayasree Sitaraman is among the treasured members of the younger generation who believe in promoting community welfare, charitable and religious causes and most importantly, goodwill and understanding among all peoples across the social stream.

A software engineer with a postgraduate degree (Master of Technology) from the National University of Singapore, Jayasree carries impressive credentials with a high performance career that took her from Singapore to the US and Australia before landing her in New Zealand to become a Founding Partner at RightViz Solutions, a software company with a focus on automation.

Endowed with a melodious voice and pleasing manners, Jayasree is a chip of the old block. Her late parents, Dr N Sitaraman (a Chemistry Professor at the National Institute of Technology, formerly known as the Regional Engineering College at Calicut) and A S Janaki were proficient in music.

Awards and honours

Commencing her singing career at the tender age of three, Jayasree is a recipient of several awards, prizes and citations during her scholastic career.

However, she is apologetic that pressures of work and constant relocation have ‘robbed’ her of the singer in her, although the past two years have been one of ‘rehabilitation.’

She has been utilising You Tube to further her musical prowess as a singer, composer and publisher of music in three languages – Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.

We understand that Jayasree has composed and rendered songs written by a number of her friends, renowned in their respective fields.

Among them are Dr C B Sobhan (Venal, Anayaa Vilakkaakaam Amma, Oru Thaptha Rathri), Suresh Menon (Omkaarapporulaakum), Ajith Nambiar (Pranayam, Ormmikkumo, Kinavile Pakshi, Oru Vela, Manassinte Kolaayil, Pinneyum Baakki), Ajay Menon (Thaliritta) and A P Sukumar (Vennayalle, Aadhara Sruthi, Kannane Kaanaan, Madhava Sundara) who are all well known in their circles. She has also rendered the songs composed by Suresh Menon from Mumbai (Entheyen Kanmani, Nerukil Nee, Thamara Noolizha and Omkaarapporulaakum).

Film debut

Recently, with the efforts of Dr C B Sobhan, Ajith Narayanan and Dr Manomohan Choondal, Jayasree recorded her movie debut song for renowned music director Dr Sreevalsan J Menon. The movie, ‘Chandragiri Junction’ and the song are expected to be released soon.

“I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to sing for Dr Sreevalsan J Menon in May this year,” she said.

Patriotic song

Her ability as a lyricist was proved with ‘Mere Desh Ke Lagon Jaago,’ a patriotic song that she wrote for composer Amal Antony Agustin pays homage to the Indian freedom fighters.

“This is my first collaborative creation with Amal (who is also a playback singer). This song became a reality, thanks to our team of our talented artistes including Paulson (Sitar), Rison (Flute/Woodwind), Sunil Kumar (Tabla/Percussion), Chris Rose Anto, Salutreesa Tajet, Sneha, Sandra, Aparna, Insaf, Swedhil, Abin (Chorus).

Released on India’s 68th Independence Day (August 15), the song was a challenge to all of us,” she said.

The song has become a hit with a large following on You Tube. A number of television channels including Amrita TV and Kairali TV provided coverage for the song in three of their programmes.

Balancing time

Jayasree has also worked on music albums by Gouthaman P Koramethu (Abu Dhabi), A P Sukumar (Canada) and Vimal Kumar Kalipurayathu (Dubai).

Keen to achieve perfection in all her pursuits, Jayasree balances her time appropriately for her profession (in Information Technology), family (comprising her husband P G Balu and their daughter Lakshmi) and her passion (composing and singing).
