Members of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) can now join CPA Australia without incurring member fees until January 2015.
CPA Australia Chief Executive Alex Malley said that this offer would enable qualifying accountants to join more than 144,000 professionals in 127 countries around the world.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for existing members of NZICA. CPA Australia is of one of the world’s largest accounting bodies, offering a designation with global relevance and reach combined with strong, local advocacy, education and training,” he said.
Mr Malley said that CPA Australia established its presence in New Zealand eight years ago and that it has been working closely with the profession and Government for the benefit of its members.
“CPA Australia is recognised as an Approved Adviser Group with Inland Revenue Department and accredited by the Financial Markets Authority under the Auditor Regulation Act 2011 in respect of auditor licensing and regulation in New Zealand for auditors of issuers. Recognising our increasingly important role in public advocacy and leadership in the continuous improvement of standards for the profession, our New Zealand membership has grown by 20% in the last five years,” he said.
According to him, the offer of membership is a part of CPA Australia’s commitment to New Zealand and its aim of consolidating its critical mass in the Asia-Pacific.
“In addition to a host of online resources available to help members of the profession make an informed decision to join CPA Australia, information sessions would also be held in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton over the next few weeks,” Mr Malley said and encouraged NZICA members considering their options to secure a designation with global relevance and visit CPA Australia website.
