Accident victim needs your financial support

Like hundreds of thousands of people, Hari Gopal too arrived in New Zealand to pursue a dream, seek higher education, secure a job and settle down.

He completed the first two pursuits, but before moving forward, fate overtook him.

Today, he suffers from a broken leg and a broken dream.

The 24-year-old youngster from the Telugu-speaking community is fighting for his life at the Auckland Hospital.

He was the victim of an accident that occurred on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Taupo.

He was travelling on his two-wheeler, when he was hit by a speeding car.

Hari was employed as Store Manager at a Dairy and Liquor Store after completing his Level 7 Diploma in Business Management from the New Zealand Institute of Studies.

He was a Job Search Visa and was hopeful of achieving his ultimate objective of becoming a New Zealand Resident.

Telugu Community Support

Telugu Association of New Zealand is assisting Hari’s family comprising Hari’s parents and uncle to obtain their passports and visas on fast-track.

Association President Aruna Bhoompelli is coordinating efforts with the Indian High Commission in Wellington and the community for assistance.

Ms Bhoompelli who visits the Hospital to understand the condition of Hari, said that he had undergone an operation to fix three areas of broken bones on his right leg.

Lugs affected

“He was in a stable condition on Sunday but turned for the worse on Monday. His lungs were also damaged due to the accident and he is on a ventilator, fighting for life. His friends, including Naresh, Rajiva, Jagadeesh, Shashank are looking after him with support from the Telugu Community. I am told that Harish will undergo a full body scan to determine his exact medical status,” Ms Bhoompelli said.

She said that the community has established an Appeal Page at Givealittle.

“We request those who can to contribute to the fund,” she added.
