Dancing with the feet is one thing but dancing with the heart is another.
Some people view dancing as an art of expression, while it could be an exercise, or stress reliever.
Dance has been an important aesthetic of culture and personality.
We have undervalued dance in today’s society by categorising it as just an attribute.
Anyone who had a heart can dance. This was proved at our reality show called, ‘Humse Badkar Kaun?’ in our realty show on Triangle TV.
A venture of Roopa Aur Aap Charitable Trust, the show was open to anyone who keen to explore their inner talent.
Contestants at the show that was telecast for 13 weeks (Thursdays at 8 pm) represented various communities of the Indian Sub-Continent.
Judged by three experts proficient in Western and Classical dances, the contestants had the benefit of different choreographers to guide them according to their individual abilities.
Hufriya, Gurjyot, Pooja, Simran Chadha, Simran Wadhawan, Chandni, Natasha and Chikni Chamelis were among the finalists.
We tried to provide an opportunity to amateur dancers to showcase their talents. This show helped them not only to hone their dancing skills but also provided them confidence and strength to face their inabilities and nourish their qualities.
The grand finale was held on August 25 at Dorothy Winstone Centre, Auckland Girls Grammar School.
Natasha Bali won the competition with Pooja Bangath and the ‘Chikni Chamelis’ Group from Macleans College were respectively the first and second runners-up. This long journey finally ended, but it was a new beginning.
We hope to produce many more shows to explore and expose talent among our people, who otherwise remain unnoticed.
