Auckland Mayor Len Brown has highlighted the significance of providing clean, efficient and total heathcare to all residents, paying tributes to medical practitioners, nurses, clinics and others involved in the healthcare delivery.
Inaugurating the Mt Roskill Medical Centre of East Tamaki Health Care (ETHC) on a redeveloped commercial complex (Roskill Centre) at 20 Stoddard Road in Mt Roskill on July 19, he said that that the Organisation has grown from a single clinic established 36 years ago (by Dr Kanti Patel and his wife Ranjna) to account for 20 centres today.
“They were the trailblazers in Otara, where the high level of understanding the local community and their commitment has resulted in lifting the standard of health. The new Centre in Mt Roskill is another major achievement,” he said.
Enhanced healthcare
Dr Rajiv Sood, Clinical Director, said that the new facility aims to be a ‘forward-looking Centre with old fashioned principles of caring for patients.’
He said that the Stoddard Road Centre will complement the main facility at Richardson Road, which is an integrated family medical health centre with its own X-Ray, pharmacy, physiotherapy and midwifery services.
“The Stoddard Road Centre has dental, pharmacy and physiotherapy services. We have staff, nurses, receptionists, ECG machines and defibrillators and bedpans. We look forward to serving our patients in the area,” he said.
Mt Roskill MP Phil Goff (Labour) and Mt Albert List MP Melissa Lee (National) spoke about the importance of good healthcare and the need toimprove public health standards, not only in Mt Roskill but also throughout Auckland and New Zealand.
Among the others present were Mrs Ranjna Patel, government officials and businesspersons.
