“We believe that the society must teach children to bridge the gap between generations through love and creativity. The forthcoming programme will highlight the support given by Shanti Niwas to senior citizens,

“Registration, with a nominal fee of $5 will be open online until July 22. Winners of the Competition will be honoured at a ceremony on July 28,” Mrs Kalra said.

Meditation Workshop

The Group will also conduct an Integrated Amrita Meditation (IAM) workshop on the first Sunday of every month at Directions Healing Centre at 12 Horopito, Street in Mt Eden.

The monthly programme will commence on July 7.

Secretary Patricia Wylie said that the IAM technique perfectly integrates relaxation stretches, breathing exercises, positive affirmations and visualization.

“These form a complete meditation solution for today’s fast paced life. The technique is a synthesis of traditional, time-tested methods suited for the current mental conditions, time-constraints and needs of modern man. It is taught for free throughout the world. It takes 3 hours to learn properly but only takes 20 minutes to do,” she said.

IAM instructor Varima Narula, who hails from a family of Yoga teachers and Sanskrit Scholars, will conduct the Workshop, she added.

Developed by Mata Amritanandamayi (The Hugging Saint), the IAM technique is believe to reduce stress and ease the body and soul of tension.

Further details can be obtained from Ms Wylie on (09) 4194609 or from Ms Narula on 021-1242391.
