BNZ has created a Health Team to promote the interests of medical professionals with specialised packages for those running clinics, and private practices, senior officials of the Bank have said.
Ansuya Naidoo (Senior Partner at Auckland Central BNZ Partners and Head of the just launched Indian Community Banking), Rosalie Settle (National Manager, Health Sector), Vic Arora (Property Partner at BNZ Partners Highbrook) and Nish Vyas (Partner, Private Banking, BNZ Partners, Henderson) told a gathering of medical professionals that the health sector is a growing industry and that it deserved focused banking services.
“Indian medical practitioners are known for their high standards of professionalism, business ethics and delivery of good patient care. BNZ has a Health Team that understands your needs to provide value through innovative banking solutions and strong relationships,” they said.
More than 50 medical professionals and their spouses attended the dinner meeting organised by the Auckland Indian Medical Society (AIMS) at Nickies Thai Restaurant in Broadway on April 7.
Recognising success
Ms Naidoo said that BNZ launched its Indian Community Banking (Indian Newslink, April 1) recently with an increased focus of serving Indian businesses, organisations and individuals.
“India is becoming increasingly important for New Zealand and its people. The Indian business community in New Zealand has been a major contributor to economic progress and prosperity of this country. More and more large corporates, particularly the banking industry are starting to recognise the benefits by investing in this community. BNZ is the first to market banking services in this area,” she said.
Ms Naidoo said that BNZ decided to test the waters in 2011 and became the Title Sponsor of Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards.
She said that the Bank’s involvement in the Awards Scheme was to promote the interests of businesses in the Indian community.
“That proved to be very successful, our presence in the community was recognised and we were able to build trust. We now proudly own that space.
“We have shown our commitment to the Indian community and an association that we are proudly linked with. We have celebrated Diwali for the past three years at our Highbrook Partners Centre. We plan to continue with this tradition,” she said.
Meaningful contribution
Ms Naidoo said that BNZ was committed to make a meaningful contribution to the Indian community in New Zealand, through its qualified and highly motivated staff, among who are people of Indian origin from several countries.
Ms Settle said that ‘Health Partners’ of the Bank handle the requirements of medical professionals and that specialists ensure provision of right advice and service at the right time.
AIMS President Dr Chellaraj Benjamin said that the concept of Indian Community Banking was unique and would prove successful if BNZ provided products and services that accrued better value to medical practitioners.
