Narendra Bedekar, one of the most popular photographers and graphic designers of the country, has won the Bronze Award in the Wedding Album Category of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers.
He was also the top finalist for the ‘Overall Winner’ Award in the same category.
The Awards ceremony was held in Christchurch on September 24.
“This was the first ever Awards scheme in which I participated and I am gratified with the outcome,” Mr Bedekar told us.
He has been associated with Indian Newslink since he migrated from the Sultanate of Oman in 2003 and has been our photographer at a number of events. As a creative artiste, his mastery has manifested itself in a number of designs that he produced for us including in-house advertisements, Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards and Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture logos, advertisements and other jobs.
Following his initial career in India, Mr Bedekar worked as an Art Director at an advertising agency in Oman.
“The assignment brought into focus the profession of photography, as a visual enhances the quality of advertising. Although I never dreamt of becoming a photographer, my interest in the profession grew immensely over the years. While I am deeply involved in graphic designing, creating advertising logos, copy and other forms of creativity, my love for photography has intensified with the promotion of an increasing number of corporate, community and social activities in Auckland,” he said.
Focus on excellence
Mr Bedekar said advanced technology has enabled him to acquire and update equipment, allowing him to capture events as they unfolded, the moods of people on social and business occasions, weddings, birthday parties and in their own homes.
“Notwithstanding the fact that state-of-the-art and computerised cameras allow people to capture anything, anywhere, the importance of professional photographers cannot be over-emphasised,” he said.
Mr Bedekar owns his own design and photography studio called, ‘Creative Eye,’ based in Hillsborough, Auckland.
