Among the highlights of the Seventh Annual Indian Newslink Sports, Community, Arts and Culture Awards held on August 2, 2021 at Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Auckland was the honour bestowed on five Sports achievers of yesteryears, chosen by the New Zealand Indian Central Association under the Elite Sports Awards Programme.
Among them were Peter Daji (Excellence in Hockey), Roneel Magan Hira (Excellence in Cricket), Natasha Krishna (Excellence in Golf), Paresh Patel (Excellence in Hockey) and Ajaz Patel (Excellence in Cricket).
Five men were recognised for their current and ongoing achievements in various aspects of sports. They were Keertivaasan Prakash (Cricket), Aaryan Raj (Soccer), Prashant Guha (Boxing), Rajeswar Peddisetti (Badminton) and Ravinder Singh Jhamat (Services to Sports and Recreation).
They received their trophies from Transport and Workplace Relations and Safety Minister Michael Wood, Auckland Mayor Phil Goff, ACT Leader David Seymour, National MP Mark Mitchell, New Zealand Indian Central Association President and Immediate Past President Paul Patel and Bhikhu Bhana.
