Rising Star does us proud at U13 Australia events

Teenager Nishitha Maarka continues to make her parents, peers, coach and lovers of Tennis proud with her achievements on either side of the Tasman.

Impressive performance in Australia

The youngster is currently in Australia to play in matches of the Under 13 Australian Junior Team Events and her team won the Pool A match (3-0) in Tasmania.

She won the Singles against Britta Russel of Tasmania 6-1, 6-1 and Doubles 6-0, 6-0) but the match against Team Victoria was cancelled due Covid-19 lockdown.

The Tournament matches were scheduled to be held at KDV Sport in Gold Coast from June 25 to June 29, 2021. The team left New Zealand on the 23rd of June with Captain Tracey King and the other national teams. The 13U event was also held on clay.

Two years ago, Nishitha was selected by Tennis New Zealand to represent the country at the Under 11 Australian Championship matches held in Gold Coast.

She was among the athletes to compete in the Under 11 and Under 13 Team Event held at the KDV Sports Academy, located at Carrara, Gold Coast.

As reported by Indian Newslink on May 28, 2018, Nishitha was the winner at her first overseas tennis tournament held in Melbourne from March 30 to April 2, 2018.

She was a runner-up at the Bendigo Tennis Association 2018 McDonalds Classic 10 and Under Girls Singles Tournament played in Melbourne.

She received a Gold as the winner of the Under 10 Girls Doubles Tournament, with her Doubles Partner Yasmin Matthew.

Twelve days later, Nishitha scored Silver as she became a runner up at the Tennis Central Tier 2 Technifibre Junior Open 2018 Girls 10 and under Singles in Wellington.

Achievements over the years

Some of her achievements are: 2021: (1) Represented New Zealand in Gold Coast in 2021 (2) Tennis New Zealand Masters Tier-2 Techni fibre Central Region Open Girls 14u Singles and Doubles Winner held in Wellington (3) Tennis Auckland 2021 Auckland Junior Championships 14u Girls Singles and Doubles Finalist held in Auckland (4) Represented Tennis Canterbury at New Zealand National Junior Teams in Christchurch; 2020: South Island Primary & Intermediate Schools Finals Open Girls Singles Winner in Timaru; 2019: (a) 12U New Zealand Junior Championships Girls Doubles Finalist held in Auckland (b) Kiwi Indoor Junior Championships 14u Girls Doubles Runner-up held in Christchurch.
