‘Veteran American’ returns home with optimism

An Indo-Fijian is returning home after living and working in the US for more than 40 years, enticed by Fiji’s lush green fields and a new real estate development.
But the Government’s ‘Dual Citizenship Scheme’ was the proximate reason for California based Sesha Reddy to consider going back to his home country.
“As well as granting dual citizenship (which was hitherto not available), the Fijian Government is providing a number of incentives including tax concessions to investors. Fiji has become an attractive destination for retirees. Besides, it is my homeland,” he said.
Mr Reddy found that many of his compatriots were keen to return home but without relatives or friends, they were having second thoughts.
He said that he may lead a relaxed life in Fiji but that would be far from retirement.
“My immediate objective would be to create opportunities for other former citizens of Fiji to live at ‘Tokalau Pointe,’ which is being developed as a residential area. This new and exciting development will provide all the comforts of modern living while preserving the natural serenity that former Fijian citizens have been missing for years,” he said.
According to him, many Indo-Fijians left their home countries in search of growth opportunities abroad. Most of them have accomplished their goals with their children well qualified and settled in their host countries.
“Our goal is now to return to Fiji and participate in its progress and prosperity,” Mr Reddy said.
Located less than two kilometres from Sigatoka Town along the Sigatoka River, ‘Tokalau Pointe’ is a major land development project comprising 117 acres of freehold land.
Mr Reddy said that the master plan includes 200 single-family homes, 35-40 condominium units, three bed and breakfast facilities, neighborhood parks and a shopping centre.
