One of the most powerful advocates of ‘good corporate behaviour’ will outline the qualities of leadership in public and private sector at a prominent event in the coming weeks.
Wellington based BusinessNZ Chief Executive Phil O’Reilly will be the Guest Speaker at this year’s Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture, scheduled to be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Stamford Plaza.
The event will begin with cocktails and networking at 630 pm.
An insightful speaker, Mr O’Reilly is involved in many high-level policy initiatives and is a frequent commentator in national media.
Apart from his association with several organisations in the country, he represents New Zealand employers at the International Labour Organisation and contributes to the governing body of the ILO.
He is also a Board member of the Business and Industry Advisory Committee to the OECD.
A powerful presenter and speaker, Mr O’Reilly is well known for his advocacy of good Corporate Governance, which is the core of the Lecture series.
BusinessNZ is New Zealand’s largest business advocacy group, representing thousands of businesses of all sizes.
Meaningful discussion
The purpose of the Lecture is to stimulate good governance in New Zealand.
Mr O’Reilly will examine the principles of governance as they relate to national, commercial and political life in his address.
“Sir Anand was an outstanding barrister, judge and ombudsman before serving as the Queen’s Representative in New Zealand between 2006 and 2011.
“The rules, systems and expectations that guide behaviour at the corporate, institutional and national level therefore deserve our scrutiny,” Mr O’Reilly said.
A Tribute
We launched the annual Lecture series last year to encourage New Zealanders in general and those in public and corporate entities in particular to appreciate and practice tenets of Accountability, Transparency and Integrity as an integral part of Good Governance. These are in fact enshrined in the life and works of former Governor General Sir Anand.
In launching the Lecture last year, we had said that it was a tribute to Sir Anand, who has distinguished himself as one of the finest sons of New Zealand.
“His erudition, honesty, simplicity, integrity and contributions to various aspects of New Zealand have been recognised and respected the world over – these factors are worthy of celebration,” we had said.
Sir Anand and Lady Susan Satyanand will be among our special guests at the Lecture, tickets for which is priced at $140 per person, including GST, Cocktails and dinner. For details, please write to editor@indiannewslink.co.nz
