The Papatoetoe Muslim team won the Eid Cup at the final match of the Muslim Eid Tournament held at Centre Park in Mangere, Auckland on November 20, 2011.
The team defeated Waikato in the final match with two goals to nil.
Earlier, in Pool D matches, Papatoetoe Muslim beat Western Height by four goals to nil and drew with Tauranga (two all).
The team’s players were in top form as they defeated Ponsonby Side by two goals to one in the quarterfinal. They were also winners in the match against the Mangere team in a penalty kick (3-1).
According to an expert, the Papatoetoe team deserved credit for their success.
“The team had many experienced players and the officials worked hard to ensure the appropriate encouragement and environment to succeed,” he said.
