Obligations of employers, ways and means of harnessing technology, adopting cost-effective measures and proper utilisation of the incentives offered by the government are some of the issues that will be discussed at a free webinar this week.

An initiative of Vino Ramayah, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive of Medtech Global Limited, a multinational company, the online seminar will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 from 4 pm.

New Zealand in crisis

Among the professionals who will offer expert advice at the webinar are Mr Ramayah, Dinesh Naik, Tax Partner at KPMG (Auckland) and Kirsty McDonald, Partner at Duncan Cotterill (Auckland).

Mr Ramayah said that New Zealand is in the grip of a financial crisis perpetrated by coronavirus and that many doctors are busy at the frontline fighting the disease and preventing its spread.

However, health professionals are also facing a period of slow down, he said.

“We are talking with practices every day and becoming increasingly aware of the business pressures that they face while dealing with the pandemic. We want to help businesses and professionals navigate through this challenging time,” he said.

The free-to-participate Seminar aims to help clinicians to protect their businesses during the current Coronavirus-19 crisis.

Mr Ramayah said that a Question and Answer Session, planned as a part of the event, will be interactive as well as informative.

Issues for discussion

While Mr Naik will examine the Wage Subsidy Scheme and guide participants through the eligibility criteria and compliance requirements, Ms McDonald will share her expertise on the legal obligations of employers, the responsibilities of clinics if they are thinking of restructuring their practices and options available to reduce costs.

Mr Ramayah said that technology is a great enabler during a crisis and Medtech will be explaining the various technologies to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and provide efficiencies.

“Video consultations are a key tool for doctors and nurses to remove the risk of infection. We will explain how easy it is for them to stay safe while providing exceptional care to their patients with this exciting technology,” he said.
