I am honoured to be appointed by the Prime Minister Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern to serve our diverse communities as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Ethnic Communities.
The Coalition government is committed to improving the wellbeing of our diverse ethnic communities across Aotearoa. I look forward to working more closely with the Ethnic Communities Minister in my new role to ensure that the government continues to engage effectively with our diverse communities.
Advocating Policy Change
I have spent many years advocating for legislative and policy change to address specific challenges that disproportionately impact our ethnic communities and support their aspirations.
I look forward to the opportunity to work more closely with Ministers to build on this work.
I want to acknowledge my colleague and friend, Michael Wood, for his work as Parliamentary Undersecretary to the Minister for Ethnic Communities.
Over the last 20 months, Michael has made a substantial and lasting contribution to the strengthening of relationships between the government and many ethnic communities. His dedication to the role was exemplary.
I thank the Prime Minister for this leadership opportunity.
