As I finished reading your Diwali 2011 Special (Indian Newslink October 15), I was pleased to observe its unique contents and exquisite production, which are among the best attributes of this popular fortnightly.
I am happy that the newspaper has maintained its exclusiveness, unique features and fresh layout for the past 12 years.
It is common for human beings to compare and contrast. Of late, there has been a wave of ‘Weekly’ newspapers mushrooming, each with a claim that it is the ‘pioneer’ of Indian community news.
A community newspaper claimed after releasing its first issue that it was the Number One in the country!
What a joke!
If cutting and pasting from websites or press releases is what newspapers do, this should then be the easiest job in the world!
If copying articles from the web and pasting them with a few or no editing is claimed as a service to community, we do not need such a service.
On the other hand, I am told that the staff at Indian Newslink work hard, often outside business hours, to ensure accuracy, quality of production and of course advertising to sustain itself.
Indian Newslink has raised the bar for community newspapers in this country.
The quality of newsprint used has always been good and the newspaper’s production value is of a high order.
The ‘Apology’ published on Page 3 of its October 15 issue indicated that errors are common for human beings but those who own up mistakes with grace are truly great. Genuine remorse and an early apology always ends problems before they become crises, endorsing the common belief that owning a mistake diffuses tension and even builds new relationships.
The article, “The Day of Magic binds us all in a spell” was very profound and well written. Thakur Ranjit Singh reminded husbands (in his article, ‘Violence against women negates religious values,’) that before trying to appease Goddess Lakshmi they should be cordial with Ghar Ki Lakshmi or their wife, partner, daughter and mother.
Indian Newslink leads with high morals and commends those who pursue such ideals. It also shuns people downgrading the community through acts of family violence, immigration fraud and tax evasion.
On behalf of hundreds of thousands of readers, I would like to commend the management and staff at Indian Newslink for pursuing excellence.
Happy Birthday!
