One shooting victim is reportedly out of danger in Christchurch.
Ahmed Iqbal Jahangir a 34-year-old Muslim of Indian origin has just been taken out of the Operation Theatre in Christchurch Hospital after a bullet was removed from his shoulder.
His brother, Tanvir Jahangir told this Reporter from Melbourne, Australia, that Ahmed was in the Lynwood Mosque along with his wife Tazeen last afternoon, when the terrorist began shooting all the Muslims who were offering their prayers.
Miraculous escape
“Tazeen was in the front praying and another woman who was shot by the terrorist, fell over Tazeen. She was later rescued by the Police and taken home. They have two children, aged seven years and three years and I requested the Principal of their School to ensure their safety. Later on, they were also taken to their homes.
“It is the Grace of Almighty Allah that saved them. I have been informed that Ahmed is also out of danger now,” Tanvir said.
Restaurant Owner
Ahmad Jahangir has been a resident of Christchurch for the past 12 years, and owns ‘Bawarchi Restaurant located at 231 Papanui Road, Merivale.
Tanvir was a long-time resident of New Zealand. He established ‘Top in Town’ takeaway restaurant and ‘Food City’ on Sandringham Road and later opened a Restaurant in Papatoetoe in South Auckland. He left for Australia about ten years ago.
