Waikato leader for GOIPO meet in Canada

The US based Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) International has invited the organisation’s Waikato Chapter President Suman Kapoor to speak on Women of Indian Diaspora: Health, Intergenerational, Women’s Youth at the Organisation’s Convention in Toronto, Canada next month.

Ms Kapoor, who formed the first GOPIO Chapter in this country more than three years ago, will be the only speaker from New Zealand at the Convention.

The Diaspora Conference will be held on October 15 at the Radisson Hotel in Toronto East under the theme, Issues and Concerns of the Indian Diaspora.

Independence Day

On a related note, GOPIO Waikato and Indianz Global hosted India’s Independence Day celebrations in Hamilton on August 14.

Labour MP Sue Moroney and a number of community leaders were present at the function, which included patriotic songs and dances.
