A young Mechanical Engineer turned ascetic will present two religious discourses at the Fickling Convention Centre (Hillsborough Room) in Auckland next weekend.
Gopalavallidasan, the presiding Head of the Chennai based Radhekrishna Sathsangam will extol the ‘Greatness of Lord Krishna’ from 630 pm on Sunday, October 21, 2018 and explain ‘Sree Rama Kalyanam’ (the Marriage of Lord Rama) from 6 pm on Monday, October 22, 2018.
Ramayana and Mahabharata
Lords Rama and Krishna are the heroes of India’s two great Epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata, each featuring the respective incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Protector of the Universe. They set examples of discipline and Dharma and justified the theory that ends justify the means.
While Lord Rama went into exile on the orders of his Emperor-Father, Lord Krishna was forced into exile and was raised far from his birthplace for fear of being killed by his uncle.
Both led a full life as human beings and hence are described as ‘Sampoorna Avatars,’ and excerpts from the two Epics are heard with reverence by the young and the old.
Religious discourses were common in India from the 1940s through to 1960s and have seen a revival in some parts of India in recent years.
