The Electoral Commission met with senior officials of registered political parties in Suva on Thursday, August 9, 2018.
Chairman Suresh Chandra said that all Parties except the Freedom Alliance Party were present at the meeting.
He said that the meeting was an opportune time for the Commission to communicate with officials and listen to their concerns and deal with other ongoing procedural matters.
No changes proposed
The Political Parties were also informed that the Commission will not be seeking any further changes to the Electoral System and will be taking the country to elections based on the current legal framework and the Electoral System.
Mr Chandra said this will ensure that all preparations are in place to conduct Elections 2018.
Party officials were also briefed on the activities of the Fijian Elections Office as well as legal requirements they may have to look out for closer to the Election.
