Success comes to those who dare to dream, fight odds and work hard; those who moan and groan would always remain relegated.
A good financial institution with a heart to help in times of need and a mind to understand business predicaments is however imperative for the success of every institution and individual (well almost).
Victor (Virender) Kapoor, Managing Director of the West Auckland based Agro Accessories New Zealand Limited is fortunate on all counts- he dreams, puts those dreams into action, faces challenges and has BNZ for finance and support.
Since its establishment in 1990, the Company has registered steady growth and progress and commands respect and patronage in the construction industry in New Zealand and a number of countries in the South Pacific.
With an annual turnover of $7 million and a sound financial position, the Company is poised to play a larger role in the New Zealand economy.
The Immigrants Syndrome
Many would have thought that for a man with qualifications and experience in travel and tourism, setting up an industry that manufactures crushing machines and earthmoving equipment was far-fetched.
But Mr Kapoor has been consistently proving over the past 21 years that with commitment and vision added to qualities of diligence and hard work, one cannot go wrong.
Born and raised in Delhi, he has an enormous appetite for progress and innovation, both of which have taken him to people and places. He faced the typical ‘New Migrants’ Syndrome’ when he arrived in 1987.
“The New Zealand economy was suffering the adverse effects of the stock market crash in the US, unemployment was on the rise and the money market was tight. Besides, employers were hesitant to hire new migrants,” he said.
Despair is not a word in his lexicon. Even though on modest employment, Mr Kapoor studied the market and decided to move into an industry in which he had neither the expertise nor the experience.
“The agro industry held promising prospects and my discussions with a few prospective customers in New Zealand, Tahiti and New Caledonia were encouraging,” he said.
An impressive line-up
Mr Kapoor has had no occasion to look back since the time his Company’s first crushing machine hit the road. Today, the 6000 Sq m factory of Agro Accessories New Zealand Limited in Glendene manufactures Track Mounted Crushing Plants, Stationary Plants (Mini Screening Plant, Multi-Level Screening Plant and Jaw Crushing & Screening Plant) among others.
The quarry industry finds the Company’s ‘Tasman’ brand highly reliable and cost-effective. Its ‘Tasman Tracks Combo’ is reportedly the first in the world.
“The ‘Tasman’ can be manufactured to suit the specific needs of customers. They can be stationary or mobile, powered by electric motors or diesel, all with high quality engineering components. We are keen to appoint distributors for Africa and Latin America,” Mr Kapoor said.
The Company’s technical staff includes Chinese, Maori, Dutch and Samoan, complemented by others in administration, marketing and accounts.
Mr Kapoor adds to the diversity, with his own fluency in English, French, Italian, Chinese, Hindi and Punjabi.
