Determination brings dreams closer to reality
Marriage, family and other commitments should not be obstacles in pursuing one’s dream; in fact, they could be complimenting factors, says Suman Shaw, our Model of the Fortnight.
Born and raised in a Bengali family in Kolkata, she belongs to the current generation of fun-loving, passionate and focused people.
Married to her Punjabi lover since she was a teenager, she now lives in Cambridge, enjoying the beauty of countryside New Zealand.
Parental inspiration
Suman understands life’s challenges, having seen her parents struggle to run a family of six children (she is their only daughter).
“They are my support system and source of inspiration. I am an ambitious and a self-determined person and lead life on my own terms,” she said.
Suman is multi-talented with leadership qualities imbibed during her scholastic years as a Class Monitor and School Prefect. A graduate in Accounting, she is a painter, blogger, fashion designer, model and a dancer.
Modelling has been her childhood passion and it was therefore no surprise that she used her banking career and became a model for the bank that employed her in India.
Love ticks life
“I moved to New Zealand because of love and respect for my husband. I still have my dreams to follow and become a successful person. Participating in a local pageant is the first step and I hope I would have many more opportunities in the near future,” she said.
Even as those opportunities unfold, Suman is busy with her paintings.
“However, I always enjoy being a model and blogging is part of my journey with many followers,” Suman added.
