She may not belong to a Royal Family with blue blood running in her veins but with a multitude of achievements, she is a darling to her family and friends. As the pearl of the orient, we would call her ‘Countess from Hong Kong.’
Our Talent of the Fortnight Tinaz Karbhari may have just stepped out of her teens but since her arrival in 1998 from Hong Kong, where she was born, she has demonstrated her innate ability to lead in any chosen field.
At Mcleans College, she was the Deputy Head Girl, School Prefect, House Captain and a recipient of the Prentice All-Rounder Cup for Girls. Her penchant for dancing encouraged her to appear in a number of V4U Entertainments Limited performances.
“As a person of Indian descent raised in a Chinese environment, I have imbibed both cultures, while life in New Zealand affords yet another dimension of multicultural and multiethnic society,” she said.
That is not all. Tinaz is also a sportsperson, having represented her school in Cricket and Netball.
She reckons that photography would be her vocation, although her other talents may entice her to pursue them as livelihood. She would have time until the end of the year to decide, as she completes her degree course in Visual Arts at the AUT University.
“I do not perceive the camera as a toy but as the most indispensible equipment. I use it to interpret and reveal life around me, depict how I see and observe things. I hope to establish my own photography business someday,” she said.
