Wellington Reader Harish Patel had raised the following query:
Is it true that visitors to India cannot purchase airline tickets locally for travel to other countries and if they did so, will not be allowed to enter India again?
An Indian High Commission officials replies:
The query perhaps relates to tourist visas. In case of tourist visa, the holder should have confirmed ticket back either to the holder’s country or to a third destination prior to entering India. Otherwise, even the airline will not allow them to board the plane bound for India.
