Auckland Super City is a new experiment, with one third of New Zealand’s population brought under one mega Council with one Mayor and 20 Councillors governing the affairs of Greater Auckland.
There is a notion that the Local boards will have greater powers in matters relating to the local issues in the new structure.
I am standing for the position of a Councillor in Albert-Eden- Roskill Ward, which covers the suburbs of Mt Albert, Owairaka, Point Chevalier, Mt Roskill, Hillsborough, Lynfield, Mt Eden, Epsom and Greenlane.
I am the only Indian candidate for a Councillor’s position in the Super City.
I have been involved with the community at the grass root level, serving the people in many different ways for the past 12 years.
I have more than 25 years of experience in Education, Business Management, Church Leadership and Community Service. I have also been involved in national politics and currently I am a member of the Human Rights Review Tribunal.
I am committed to the success of small businesses, safer and secure communities, sensible spending of ratepayers’ money, developing world-class public transport and equal opportunities and justice for all.
If elected, I will be your voice in the Council to fulfil the above.
