‘Quotarians’ plan Antique Fair in South Auckland

A Women’s Service group is organising an Antique Fair next weekend in South Auckland to mobilise financial resources for charity.

Quota International of Papakura Inc is putting together the 27th Annual event at the Drury School Hall (located at 164 Urban Route) in Papakura from July 8 to 10, 2016 ‘to raise funds and do hands-on-service in the local community.’

Renowned dealer Yvonne Saunders will be available on Sunday, July 10 for valuations ($5 per item, up to a maximum of three).

Kathleen Drummond, Secretary of the Group said that the Fair will attract antiques dealers from all over New Zealand.

“They rate this Quota International Fair as the best one they attend.  All funds raised go to local charities and this year, we will support the ‘Middlemore Foundation’ and their ‘Eye Glasses Programme,’ which assists low-income families fund their child’s glasses.  In addition, Quota continues its association with the Papakura Family Centre, helping fund necessary improvements to facilities for local children,” she said.

The three-day event will feature a ‘Special Opening Night’ at 730 pm on July 8, 2016. Tickets, priced at $20 will include refreshments. The Fair will be open from 10 am to 4 pm over the weekend with an admission fee of $5 per person.

“This is a great opportunity to meet together for a night out with friends as well as get in early to view the wonderful range of furniture, china, crystal, silverware, jewellery, curios and collectable on display,” Ms Drummond said.

Regional Director

Representatives from four New Zealand clubs were in attendance at the Region 13 Meeting on the Gold Coast on April 15 and 16, 2016 at which Jan Rhodes was confirmed as Regional Director for Region 21 New Zealand.

Ms Rhodes will be officially installed as Region 21 Director at the International Convention in Brisbane this month. New Zealand Club members will celebrate her success at a meeting to be held in Rotorua on July 2, 2016.

It is understood that she would focus on caring, communication and collaborating as the key tools to contributing to our community; growing and retaining membership and encouraging opportunities for personal growth amongst our members.

According to the Quota International website, five Clubs operate in New Zealand, one each in Auckland, Papakura, Whakatane, Rotorua, Opotiki and Ohope.

“Members in New Zealand undertake a range of service projects. In March, they celebrated ‘Quota Cares Month’ with a variety of projects dedicated to caring for people in our communities.  September is ‘Quota Awareness Month’ and all clubs undertake projects which promote awareness of Quota’s support for the hearing and speech impaired, disadvantaged women and children and other needs in their local communities,” a website notification said.
