A Note to Readers

It is not yet election time but it is time for readers to begin voicing their opinions on issues that are of immediate and long-term concern to them.

National Party Leader and Prime Minister John Key has an unrivalled lead in the opinion polls as the Most Preferred Prime Minister, while his advisory Opposition Leader Phil Goff has formidable challenges both within the Party and elsewhere.

Both say their election campaign never stopped.

Some say it is too early to talk about election in New Zealand, which is not due to be held at least until September 2011.

But our take on the subject is different (see National Party confident of second term).

Some say in a democracy, people should voice their opinion from time to time and make the leaders they elected listen.

Notwithstanding the rambling that goes on in New Zealand politics, the next election would be interesting as the battle lines are drawn.

Who will go to which Party is not yet known.

But some leaders of National and Labour came to the Indian Newslink party organised on two different days last fortnight to watch Mr Key and Mr Goff launch two different pages.

They braved the chilly weather and warmed up to Indian hospitality.

Electionlink begins with this issue and would conclude after the results of the Election 2011 are announced and a new government is in place.

We believe there are exciting times ahead and invite you to participate in the debates and discussions issue after issue and voice your views at the four Indian Newslink/Radio Tarana opinion polls that would be brought to you from later this year.

Public participation is imperative to make a difference in New Zealand polity.
