Miss Indianz is more than a pageant

Organising an event that brings together a host of people to witness talent in its varied manifestations year after year is not just a challenge, it requires talent in itself.
Rhythm House Limited Director Dharmesh Parikh established Miss Indianz 14 year ago (he was a bachelor then) to create a platform for our young women to express themselves, providing an evening of entertainment and fun for a cross-section of our plural society. Since then both- Dharmesh and the Event- have matured; he is now an expert event manager and Miss Indianz has become one of ‘the most responsible and responsive events’ on our social calendar.
Ideal Partnership
Dharmesh has found us at Indian Newslink and Radio Tarana ideal partners to bring news, views, profiles of participants all through the past 14 years; which in essence speaks about the beauty of our relationship.
“I would like to establish Miss Indianz as the best show of its type Down Under. It should an event of endearment and endearment, in addition to glamour, music, dance and a host of other things,” he told us in 2002.
He is justifiably proud that Miss Indianz has travelled far, establishing records of sorts in a crowded marketplace of entertainers and show organisers. His event remains the best in the business and each year, at least a dozen young women take home various titles, justifying the premise that Miss Indianz is a combination of various factors, beauty being just one of them.
Many participants and winners have scored well in their chosen professions.
Anamika Singh, who won the Miss Indianz title in 2012 is one of them.
Born in Varanasi (Varanasi) in Uttar Pradesh (India), she is a qualified lawyer at the High Court Bar.
She told us (Indian Newslink, April 15, 2012) that her ambition is to be successful in whatever she set to do.
“Being a qualified lawyer gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and offer advice to those in need. I hope to make my friends and family proud of me and be an example to younger women who wish to pursue their dreams and show people that the sky really is the limit,” she said.

“Miss Indianz 2016 promises spectacular visuals using the state-of-the-art technology and sophisticated entertainment with colour, costume and humour. It will also feature some of the best known celebrities of India,” Dharmesh said.

“Yes, the judging panel will select a winner on the night, but our main focus is to showcase and celebrate upcoming talent – not just of the contestants themselves, but also many other singers, musicians and dancers. Miss Indianz is put on to amaze and enthral. Stage, lighting, sound and video will be state-of-the-art and entertainment will be nothing short of spectacular.”
This year 24 contestants will battle it out for the grand title, competing in a range of categories including an introduction round, Kiwi girl, most talented and Q & A. Girls – who must be either NZ residents, citizens, or have lived here for more than two years – will be judged by some of the country’s most renowned Indian personalities.
“This is a great way for the girls, some of who are new immigrants, to build confidence. Most of them are looking for an opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and take on a challenge. Many contestants use the competition as a springboard to launch careers in the entertainment business. Several have gone onto acting and modelling roles back in India while others have appeared on TV shows in New Zealand. Miss Indianz is a great stepping stone for them.”
Now in its 14th year, popularity of the pageant has skyrocketed in recent years, and the event always draws a sell-out crowd.
