Model of the Fortnight

Passion for India goes beyond cuisine and costume

“Visiting India and experiencing the pious and busy atmosphere of the Golden Temple in Chandigarh are among the finest facets of my life,” says Shantelle Anderson, our Model of the Fortnight.

“I learnt much more about India, its traditions and culture and since then I have come to respect the Indian community even more. I also celebrate various Indian festivals including Holi, Navaratri and Diwali,” she said.

Shantelle’s love for Punjab extends to the Gurdwara and ‘Teeyan da Mela’ held in Wellington last year.

Global recognition

A qualified makeup artist (an International Diploma in Beauty Therapy), Shantelle established her own beauty parlour in the Capital two years ago and is justly proud of the qualifications that she has achieved with global brands such as Revlon, Almay, Nivea and Givenchy.

“Making people happy is my passion. I love to see them smile when they leave my clinic. It is very rewarding,” she said.

Born in New Zealand, she is equally proud of her Spanish origin and her children.

Lively DJ

Shantelle also functions as a DJ for her mother in her commercial enterprise and has been a host at many events such as weddings, birthdays and social and community gatherings. She considers her appearance at the ‘Teeyan da Mela’ festival held in her hometown last year as one of the most fascinating occasions in her life.

“I am grateful to those responsible to make me a part of this great celebration.”

Shantelle’s love for India extends to the country’s extensive cuisine and fashion.

Meditation and travel are her passion and she is quick to learn languages.
