Editor’s Note: It has been some time since a number of our readers asked us to commence a column dedicated to beauty and fashion, especially skincare and haircare. While the thought of doing so has been with us, it was important to secure the acceptance of an expert who would be able to establish a Beauty Page, and more importantly, keep it going once a month. We believe that we have found the right person in Ronita Sharma, Director & Principal of Forever Shine Beauty Therapy in Central Auckland.
Concern for people’s skincare needs and entrepreneurship are among her notable attributes which won for her the ‘Best Businesswoman of the Year’ Award at the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards 2015 held on Monday, November 25, 2015 at Sky City Convention Centre, Auckland. The is the second successive Award for Ronita.
This column, second in a monthly series, is again more introductory and informatory in its content than actual beauty consultancy and suggestions. That stuff will follow in our ensuing issues.
Get yourself a glowing skin!

My passion for beauty and healthy skin and body brought me to this platform and write this column so that I can look after you personally.
Take charge of your skin now, as it is never late to look after yourself.
All of us desire to have most beautiful skin.
How many of us can say that they have cleansed their face this week or exfoliated and protected their skin with moisture according to their skin type?
Skin problems are caused by a number of conditions. These include stress, not using the right skin type products and eating wrong food.
Sometimes hormonal issues can also cause problems related to skin.
Chances are that your skin is being affected in some way.
Some common causes
Indulging in processed foods like fries, chips, crackers and cookies and in greasy foods like pizza and burgers will show up on your skin first before your body begins to experience any signs. Beauty and skincare go hand in hand, especially for those who want to show off their best with confidence.
Hence start from the inside; good eating habits of healthy organic foods and foods rich in antioxidants too contribute to more beautiful younger looking skin.
While there might be deeper issues when it comes to the appearance of your skin, starting off with the right types of food might improve your overall appearance and complexion.
Most people do not understand the benefits that a good professional facial can offer.
Unnecessary wait
As a skin professional, it is my duty to let you know that most people will wait until they encounter a skin concern (such as breakouts, dry itchy skin and dark spots) or have an upcoming special event.
This is normal but problems can be avoided through regular, monthly facials and counselling. It is also imperative to use the right products.
I reiterate the importance of getting facials done once a month, unless you are trying to overcome problems such as acne and hyper-pigmentation. If you are facing problems, please visit a professional for proper treatment.
The reason for recommending regular (monthly) facials is because your stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the visible skin) will completely renew itself approximately every 28 days. During this time, your skin cells are constantly being replicated from the treated cells to replace the old cells.
If you give your skin a head start (a great facial), your skin cells will begin to replicate the now healthier cells and thus give you a better complexion.
Further, most skins can take up to eight weeks to start to treat active skin cells, but by speeding up the renewal process with a facial you can make these products work faster with better effect.

I am not only a businesswoman, beauty and skin therapist, trainer and entrepreneur but also but also a wife, mother and daughter. I enjoy working with people and make them look beautiful and be proud of their beauty and skin.
Eight years ago, I established Forever Shine Beauty Therapy, a herbal and organic beauty clinic for women and men in Eden Terrace, Central Auckland.
I go home and cook for my family of husband and two children and look after them.
It is challenging but I do it all.
I have been a part of the skin and beauty industry for the past 13 years.
We have come a long way from working for reputed spas and resorts to starting my own beauty and skin therapy clinic. This journey has been enriching and fulfilling.
Born and raised in a small town in Fiji, I arrived in Auckland to pursue my education and career. It was not easy but I have learnt that hard work and honesty are always rewarding.
At Forever Shine Beauty Therapy, we coach and educate those interested in a career in Beauty and Skin. We stared a Beauty Therapy School and offer a number of courses.
My passion for beauty and healthy skin and body brought me to this column in Indian Newslink. I hope I can look after you personally.
