Venkat Raman –
The Eighth Annual Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards have begun to evince the interest of the wider communities in New Zealand as Indian businesses and entrepreneurs continue to score high on the economic scale.
Tickets for the Awards Presentation Ceremony, scheduled to be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Sky City Convention Centre in Auckland City are moving well and the event this year is expected to attract about 1100 people across the commercial, industrial, manufacturing and services sectors. As well as banks, multinationals, large, medium and small enterprises and business houses, individuals and professionals have reserved tables, inviting their top managers, customers and staff.
Increasing calibre
Ajay Kumar, Managing Director of Global Financial Services Limited said that the Awards Ceremony is among the most awaited events on the business and social calendar.
“As entrants to the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards dating back to 2009 and as guests at the Presentation Night over the past eight years, we have seen the event grow from strength to strength. We believe that these Awards are among the most credible programmes that recognise and reward businesses that have achieved growth and success in New Zealand. We also consider these Awards as one of a kind in the Indian business community,” he said.
Strategic Partnership
Lawrence Pereira, Managing Director of Oporto Franchising New Zealand, described the availability of the ‘Business Excellence in Retail Trade’ Category for sponsorship was not only timely but also strategic.
“I consider it a good omen that we were able to seize the opportunity to sponsor the only category available in this year’s Awards Programme. As we position the Oporto as a responsible and quality brand, we see the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards as a strategic partner in our growth and success in New Zealand. We have exciting plans and look forward to continued relationship with the audience addressed by these Awards,” he said.
The Categories
There are 13 categories in this year’s Awards Scheme. These include Business Excellence in Retail Trade, Business Excellence in Innovation, Business Excellence in Marketing, Business Excellence in Customer Service, Business Excellence in ICT, Business Excellence in International Business with India, Best Large Business, Best Medium-Sized Business, Best Small Business, Best Financial Advisor of the Year (Mortgage & Insurance), Best Accountant of the Year, Best Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Best Businesswoman of the Year.
Winners in each of these categories will be automatically assessed for the ‘Supreme Business of the Year’ Award.
Best Financial Advisor of the Year is a new category that we launched this year in view of the growing number of people of Indian origin gaining ground as mortgage and insurance brokers, and as registered financial advisors.
The last four categories recognise individuals and hence entries could be either through nominations or direct submission of completed entry forms.
Judging Process
Entries to the Awards opened on March 1 and closed on August 31, 2015. A panel of ten judges led by Chad Wilkie, Executive Director of Ignition Partner, a leading consultancy, is currently evaluating the entries. The Panel comprises experts in consultancy, management, accounting and many other specialist areas. The Judging Panel is independent of Indian Newslink and sponsors of the Awards.
Our Awards Programme is known for its transparency, integrity and accountability. All details of the Awards, the judging process including scoring details and names of judges appear on the Awards website (www.inliba.com). The judges have also provided an undertaking that they have no interests that would conflict with the Awards process.
Free Workshops
As a part of our efforts to enable potential entrants to understand the Awards Scheme and the judging process, we conducted three Workshops in Auckland in June, July and August. Hosted by our Title Sponsors BNZ, these Workshops were held at the BNZ Partners Centres in Central Auckland (Deloitte Centre, Queen Street), South Auckland (Highbrook) and West Auckland (Henderson). A number of potential entrants attended the Workshops.
