Chain Management course links to quality jobs

Landing a job as a Supply Chain Administrator in the farming sector was a dream come true for Jot Bisht.

His new job with Farmlands Co-operative comes on the back of the Diploma in Applied Management that he recently gained from NZCC (New Zealand Career College).

The Category 1 provider, which is part of the ACG Tertiary & Careers Group – New Zealand’s leading independent tertiary education provider – specialises in post graduate business studies.

Its popular Level 7 Diploma in Applied Management offers streams in Professional Retailing and Project Management.

It has also recently added a Procurement and Supply Chain Management stream to its line up to help fill the rapidly increasing demand for skilled procurement and supply chain professionals in New Zealand.

Growing Profession

Chain Management course links-Jot BishtProcurement and Supply Chain Management is one of the fastest growing professions in the business world today, and is on Immigration New Zealand’s Skill Shortage List.

Those with relevant respected qualifications, such as NZCC’s Diploma, are in hot demand with employers.

“Within two months of finishing my NZCC course I gained a job as a Supply Chain Administrator with the third-largest co-operative in New Zealand, Farmlands Co-operative Ltd.

It is a very interesting role. I streamline the rebate collection process from the supplier and maximise shareholder profits and I’m given the freedom to apply my ideas and skills. I love my job as I’ve always wanted to work in the farming sector!” Jot said.

Without his NZCC qualification, Jot is unlikely to have had the same success in New Zealand.

“The qualification has helped increase my professional competencies and level of knowledge, and has helped me settle down in New Zealand.  The theoretical knowledge that I have gained is very useful – I’ve developed an in-depth knowledge of the procurement processes and gained an understanding of the importance of this function to shape business.”

Manoj moves up

A qualified and experienced mechanical engineer, Manoj was keen to develop his project management skills so enrolled in the Project Management stream of NZCC’s Diploma in Applied Management.

“With the help of the NZCC Careers Advisor, I secured a paid internship with Etel Transformers, which was fantastic because it is in my specific field of interest. The internship taught me a lot about New Zealand standards, and enabled me to implement some of the concepts which I learned during my NZCC studies.  I’m now working at Etel Transformers as a Production Administrator.  We have the monopoly in the transformer market in New Zealand, with an 85% share. I am very proud to work here and I feel it is the ideal place to develop myself,” he said.
