The New Zealand Indian Central Association (NZICA), which will mark its centenary next year (2026) has announced an all-day, Pan-NZ Badminton Competition in Auckland next month.
Organised jointly with the Relianz Group, the event will be held at the Waitakere Badminton Centre from 9 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
“As the first of its kind, the NZICA Reliance Group Badminton Competition will hopefully bring forth the best talent from across New Zealand. It promises to be an exhilarating day, bringing together players from all walks of life to celebrate community, sportsmanship, and the joy of Badminton,” Suneel Kuncha said on behalf of the Organising Committee.
“Whether you aim for victory in the Competitive Grades or enjoy the game in the Social Grade, there is a place for everyone. Please join the event and showcase your Badminton skills in an inclusive environment of fun and talent in the true spirit of competition,” he said.
The Competition will be held in four segments: Men’s, Women’s, Social and Juniors.
Mr Kuncha said that the Competition is open to all players in New Zealand.
“A Rolling NZICA and Relianz Cup will be introduced for the Men’s and Women’s Segments in the Competition. The entry fee for each participant will be $30, including a Tournament T-shirt personalised with the nickname of the participant. Food Stalls will be set up at the venue,” Mr Kuncha said.
