Members of Financial Advice NZ elected Mortgage Advisor Hamish Patel to the post of Director at their Annual General Meeting held in Auckland on October 23, 2024.
He replaces Rupert Gough, whose three-year term ends this month.
Independent Chair Heather Roy said that the Board appreciates the industry insights of Mr Patel and that the Board looks forward to working with him.
“We have a clear vision as an adviser-driven, high-engagement professional body and Mr Patel’s experience and knowledge will help us achieve our strategic goals for the advice sector,” she said.
Significant Relationships
Acknowledging the services of Mr Gough, Ms Roy said that he brought significant relationships to Financial Advice NZ during his tenure as a Director.
“Rupert remains a Financial Advice NZ member, and we look forward to his continued involvement with the professional body,” said.
A Founding Member of Financial Advice New Zealand, Mr Patel is the Chair of its Member Advisory Committee (Mortgage and Lending).
A press note said that he has actively advocated for Mortgage Advisers and consulted with the Board on regulatory changes impacting the lending sector.
Mr Patel said that he was keen to contribute to the positive momentum and credibility that Financial Advice NZ has established as the authentic voice of the advice sector.
Mr Patel established Mortgagesonline, a boutique mortgage advisory business and works within the business as a Director and Adviser.
He has an engaged online following and has written over 300 consumer articles on lending. He is an Associate Volunteer at Friends of Fiji Heart Foundation, supporting their Board with strategic planning and marketing.
