Bengalis begin their Badminton Tournament Series

Auckland-based community group Bhabna NZ Inc hosted its inaugural Badminton Tournament on July 27, 2024 The Y Lynfield Youth and Leisure Centre in Auckland.

More than 60 members and their families, including children.

The Tournament was played in the true spirit of competition and friendship, creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone.

Tuhin Bhatt and Somnath Basu won the Men’s Doubles title, while Rama Saha and Ann Mazumdaar triumphed in the Ladies Doubles.

Ashmi Saha and Shreyans Deb were winners in the Children’s Doubles.

The event’s success was ensured by the meticulous efforts of Suraj who handled the itineraries and fixtures, adapting to last-minute changes and preparing detailed instructions for those unfamiliar with the rules.

His contributions were instrumental in the smooth execution of the Tournament.

This Tournament holds special significance for Bhabna NZ Inc as it marks the beginning of what is planned to be an annual event. The community eagerly looks forward to incorporating this Tournament into their yearly calendar alongside other cherished events like our Cultural Programme and Kali Puja.
