As Fiji regains its status with the international community, more importantly with New Zealand, the respective governments, diplomatic missions and professional organisations are looking ahead for more collaborative ventures.
There is renewed hope and confidence among investors and businesses in New Zealand, especially those of Fijian origin on commercial and infrastructure projects in Fiji. They would have an opportunity to meet with top government officials and decision-makers in the South Pacific nation by joining a business mission.
Joint Mission
Organised by the Fiji High Commission (Wellington), New Zealand Fiji Business Council (NZFBC) and Pacific Islands Trade and Invest (Auckland), New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade and New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, the Mission, with its central theme ‘Building Opportunities Together,’ is preparing the first visit in 2015.
The delegation will be in Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Suva, Fiji from April 20 to 24.
Exciting developments
NZFBC President Chandra Sen said that Fiji is on the threshold of exciting developments and that the existing and emerging business opportunities would be mutually beneficial.
“Restoration of democracy and the guaranteed equality for all citizens are reassuring with high level of political stability. This has opened up new avenues for engagement. The forthcoming business mission will hopefully explore those opportunities,” he said.
Inviting New Zealand and Fijian businesses to participate in the Mission, he said that one of the main aims of the visit is to raise awareness on Fiji’s economic and commercial potential and learn first-hand the friendly policies of the government.
“There is a win-win situation here. The Mission is working closely with the Fijian government and the private sector to put together a programme that would provide the visiting investors and businesspersons to explore specific business interests and meet with strategic contacts,” Mr Sen said.
According to him, the Programme would include discussions with a number of ministries, government departments and agencies, meetings with private sector undertakings and networking events.
